Community engagement is the backbone of Boone Next. Boone community members attended a variety of community meetings between April 29-May 1: Two community meetings and two informal drop-in work sessions open to the public and four work sessions for community stakeholders. These meetings were part of three full days of opportunities for stakeholders and community members to share ideas for guiding the future of Boone.
The subject of the meetings included four focus areas within Boone and a second communitywide workshop. As part of the comprehensive plan, the Town is studying four specific parts of town to develop policies that could best guide the future in those areas. The communitywide public workshop was held at Hardin Park Elementary on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 6 pm– 8 pm. During the workshop, attendees viewed a presentation, responded to smartphone polling questions, and engaged at their own pace in a variety of small station activities.
Many thanks to our Town Council members, Planning Commission members, and Town Leadership/Administration, Cultural Resources, Public Works, and Planning & Inspections Staff for their assistance in our initial public workshop! The Town also extends much appreciation to all community participants who provided their input during the in-person workshop and online!
Now that two rounds of community engagement have been conducted, the planning team will use input to guide the drafting of the comprehensive plan and bring the draft back to a public open house in December.
