On Thursday, January 18th, the Town of Boone hosted the first of three public workshops for Boone Next, the process to develop the town’s new comprehensive plan. The Workshop for Our Future lasted two hours and was held at Hardin Park Elementary School, with 125 community members in attendance. We would like to recognize our Town Council members, Planning Commission members, and Town Leadership/Administration, Cultural Resources, Public Works, and Planning & Inspections Staff for their assistance in our initial public workshop! The Town also extends much appreciation to all participants who ventured to the workshop in the wintry weather that evening!
During the workshop, participants learned about current trends and conditions affecting Boone, responded to smartphone polling questions, and provided input at multiple interactive stations located around the gymnasium.
If you weren’t able to make it to the workshop, for residents and all who call Boone home, you will able to provide feedback via an online survey where you can respond to the same questions presented at the workshop. (See link below) The online survey will be available through the month of February. Once the survey has closed, a report will be created that provides an overview of the community’s input from the in-person workshop and an online survey that comprises this first round of public engagement, which will be used alongside additional resources in the Boone Next comprehensive plan update and process.
El jueves 18 de enero, el municipio de Boone organizó el primero de tres talleres públicos para Boone Next, el proceso para desarrollar el nuevo plan integral de la ciudad. El Taller para Nuestro Futuro duró dos horas y se llevó a cabo en la Escuela Primaria Hardin Park, con 125 miembros de la comunidad presentes. ¡Nos gustaría reconocer a nuestros miembros del Consejo Municipal, miembros de la Comisión de Planificación y Liderazgo/Administración del municipio, Recursos Culturales, Obras Públicas y Personal de Planificación e Inspecciones por su asistencia en nuestro taller público inicial! El municipio también extiende un gran agradecimiento a todos los participantes que se aventuraron al taller en el clima invernal de esa noche.
Durante el taller, los participantes aprendieron sobre las tendencias y condiciones actuales que afectan a Boone, respondieron a preguntas de encuestas a través de smartphones y proporcionaron su opinión en varias estaciones interactivas ubicadas alrededor del gimnasio.
Si no pudiste asistir al taller, para los residentes y todos los que consideran a Boone su hogar, podrán proporcionar sus comentarios a través de una encuesta en línea donde podrán responder a las mismas preguntas presentadas en el taller. (Ver enlace abajo) La encuesta en línea estará disponible durante todo el mes de febrero. Una vez que la encuesta se cierre, se creará un informe que proporcionará una visión general de la opinión de la comunidad obtenida del taller presencial y de la encuesta en línea que comprende esta primera ronda de participación pública, la cual se utilizará junto con recursos adicionales en la actualización y proceso del plan integral Boone Next.
